Best use case : a web page (inside an app or a standalone browser) offers to set the borders for an element. The four of them. User sets the four, one by one, to same style color and thickness because that's hyper-common. Expects then a 'border' shorthand to appear. Won't happen because of 'border-image'... Will happen only if 'border-image' is reset too.
