The simplest answer is perhaps to get UseCounters added to chromium for behavior you might want to change and see what hits. We also now have some ability to compare screenshot diffs of the top 10k sites with and without a change. I can also easily get a list of sites that use -webkit-line-clamp in some form and digging into a random sample of ~20 would probably give us a pretty good idea of what behavior is required.
