grorg has just created a new issue for https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts:

At the moment, a developer will have to include their own code for converting a color between two spaces. Is this something we are interested in providing?

e.g. color(srgb 1 0 0) is color(display-p3 0.9175 0.2003 0.1387)
