@keithjgrant “where are we between the bounds of 400px and 800px” and 
returns a result from 0 to 1.0. As you said, this can be done with 
calc() 

-- The reason I'm proposing this is it can't universally be done with 
calc() or in a way that can be applied to anything other than a length
 unit.
