Um, yes… exactly, "uncrap XML".

WebApps is extremely hostile towards this kind of work (I don't want to sit on another PAG, thanks!). I would recommend doing it in the CG first, prove that it works, and then once there is a proper proposal on the table, drop it into WebApps.
