Dear Jo and all, I recently joined this CG and read the latest document, which I found is a good guidance for developing necessary technologies and standardizing them. For mobile devices, the characteristics of the attached network change from time to time and therefore affect user experience more dynamically. In Section 2.1, for example, high quality picture tends to be large in size, and if the attached network is GSM/EDGE, it will take forever to upload it. Webapp should be more aware of what it attaches to and be sophisticated enough to adapt its behavior before the user starts complaining. >From the above observation, is it possible to add a new requirement like below at this point in time? Req.X: User Agent SHOULD be able to obtain the information of the network, to which it attaches (e.g., connectivity or nominal capability) and it is RECOMMENDED to select an appropriate network when available. Related WGs: Device APIs WG, System Applications WG Please enlighten me if this kind of discussion has already been done and concluded.
