Hi, COGA folks, W3C's Accessibility Guidelines Working Group (AG) is
starting the process to renew its 2-year charter. To move forward, we need
your quick support.
What to do
Please give a thumbs-up on three key requirements that AG would need to
complete in the next two years. We want AG to promise to do these things!
- Why this matters to COGA: The links below use my shorter wording to
highlight why these requirements are especially relevant to COGA's work.
You can read the full versions in GitHub.
- What to ignore: You’ll see some placeholders in GitHub that say
“[Define by Date and Example Date]” — ignore those phrases. They’ll be
filled in later. Right now, we’re just asking you to support the main ideas.
Deadline
- Please try to add your thumbs-up *by the end of today*.
- If that’s not possible, please add your thumbs-up *by 10am ET tomorrow*.

1. Allow assertions and conditional requirements in WCAG 3.

(Important
for our plain-language work.)
2. Do a plain language review of WCAG 3 guidelines and its informative
documents before publication.

(Helps ensure WCAG 3 will be easy to understand.)
3. Use a scoring mechanism that encourages organizations to go beyond
base conformance.
<https://github.com/w3c/wcag3/discussions/306#discussioncomment-13052024>
(Important because some COGA-inspired parts of WCAG 3 may be assertions or
supplemental requirements, and we want a system that encourages users to do
more than just meet foundational requirements.)

Lisa shared GitHub log-in instructions during today’s COGA meeting, but
the minutes aren’t available yet. Hopefully the 19 May minutes will be
added to this page
<https://www.w3.org/WAI/about/groups/task-forces/coga/minutes/> soon.
Thanks so much for your help!
