Hi, COGA folks, quick memory jog: We talked about this set of changes when
there was a pull request in early October, and now there is a CFC vote to
approve this set of changes. More details below, thanks:
*Context and key details*
- AG is updating its high-level description of what WCAG 3 needs to do
in the next phase of development.
- The updates include changes in response to Julie and Lisa's github
comments about the pull request <https://github.com/w3c/wcag3/pull/117>.
- Based on pull-request feedback, the section on “Broad disability
support” has been reworded so it lists “cognitive and learning
disabilities, intersectional disabilities, and limited vision”
as examples
of the additional needs that WCAG 3 aims to meet beyond what it available
in WCAG 2.x.
- I am pasting the revised paragraph below:
- *"Broad disability support: *WCAG 3 guidance has a structure,
tests, and/or approach that allows for requirements that are
not available
in WCAG 2.x, such as (but not limited to) additional needs of
people with cognitive and learning disabilities, intersectional
disabilities, and limited vision."
*Timeline*
- CFC votes need to be in by this Friday, November 1st, at 12pm ET
Boston time.
- To vote, look in your inbox for an email titled "CFC - WCAG 3
Requirements update" that was originally sent by Alastair Campbell.
- He started the email chain on October 28th, with lots of links in
his initial message, including to a clean version
<https://deploy-preview-117--wcag3.netlify.app/requirements/>
and a tracked-changes
version
<https://services.w3.org/htmldiff?doc1=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2FTR%2Fwcag-3.0-requirements%2F&doc2=https%3A%2F%2Fdeploy-preview-117--wcag3.netlify.app%2Frequirements%2F>
.
- A lot of people have since replied to Alastair's CFC email chain.
- I replied to the email chain this afternoon with +1.
- Reply to Alastair's email chain with +1 to agree, -1 to disagree, and
O if you feel like you don't have enough information to vote.
Thanks,
Julie
