Clear Language summary + minutes for Nov. 2nd and Nov. 9th

Hi, folks, last week got away from me so I am sending summaries for Nov.
2nd and Nov. 9th in the same email, thanks!

*Clear Language November 2nd, 2023*

*Attended: *

   - Julie, John R., John K, EA, Lisa, Rashmi, Tburtin, Niamh
   - Welcome to Niamh, who is building a system to test accessibility in
   language


*Rashmi recommendation:*

   - Add to Clear Language that simple language should not be
   condescending. Need to avoid sounding patronizing. This guidance will also
   appear in Mental Health.
   - Action item: Julie will add to voice section of Clear Language.


*Internationalization: *

   - Still working on scheduling a meeting with Addison and the AG and APA
   chairs.
   - Once we have alignment from i18n, COGA will begin this work and will
   likely need to meet at different times to accommodate folks in different
   time zones (India, China, etc).
   - Action item: Julie will create a google doc so COGA folks can add
   internationalization issues to the doc.


*WCAG 3: *

   - Discussed the need for an easy way to let COGA members know what's
   coming up and needs their attention.
   - Lisa said we want to be at the right time of the conversation
   - Julie noted that Rachael said the ideal is if each WCAG 3 team can
   have a COGA member at all of the meetings. But there are many WCAG 3 teams
   and COGA is already stretched thin.
   - Action item: Julie to meet with Rachael to develop a system, such as a
   tracker.

   Katy met some folks in Turkey who are interested in working with Clear
   Language

   Niamh is working on a tool that tests accessibility in English and could
   be adapted for other languages

   Julie suggested Niamh give a 5-minute demonstration at a COGA meeting so
   we can all learn more about her work
   -

   Meeting adjourned early because we did not have quorum
