Being technologically challenged I felt I just had to find out about this ARIA label and found this page which seems to suggest there may be some issues with VoiceOver and Talback AT – Jaws has probably http://3needs.org/en/testing/code/aria-describedby-nested-list.html

Subject: Help and tooltips

Can we realistically suggest aria-describedby is used to implement help and tool tops?
It should not be the ONLY way but why not suggest in techniques?
Are their any limitations on what aria-describedby points to? eg max length? Either explicit or in how current AT handle it??
