I too read the minutes. I did not see any decision other than the issue paper creation. I agree with E. A.. I disagree with any decision to pursue this matter. I also disagree with spending time on an issue paper, but I am willing to entertain the idea that I will change my mind about this matter after reading it.

I know I could not write this paper and admire those who have taken it on as I just feel we could be getting into something that is much more complex than dealing with web-based content and the way it is made accessible for individuals with cognitive difficulties.

Folks please confirm that you read the minutes from this weeks call. We discussed it in detail and it was passed unanimously with 2 abstentions (myself and Michael)
Only reopen this issue if you have read the minutes and STILL disagree with the outcome. Then we will reopen the issue. In the mean time there is an action item for Ayelet and Jamie and Debra to make an issue paper.

I looked at the WHO taxonomies for the aging and dementia user group, and it looks like there will be a lot of work to harmonize them, and like some of the data is outdated.

Also, I think we need to better address the problem of aggression and inappropriate behavior by people with dementia with communication technologies. In some types of dementia, such as behavioral variant frontotemporal dementia (BvFTD)  the first symptom is a change in the personality, including disinhibition and lack of empathy. As a result, they may use accessible communication technologies in a harmful way, possibly to an extent of being illegal.
