The Internet Engineering Task Force is in the process of preparing a new working group (AIPROTO) to support interoperability for agent to agent, and agent to service APIs. They want to produce three deliverables: 1) an informational document that describes the framework, 2) a standards track AI Agent session protocol for creation and maintenance of sessions between AI agents, or between AI agents and tools that may have long-lived operation, and 3) an AI Agent protocol that allows AI Agents to collaborate with other AI Agents to execute simple or complex tasks. This protocol will allow for the exchange of user messages from the end user, including voice, video, images and chat. It is anticipated that the WG will use existing agent communication protocols (such as the A2A protocol currently specified under the auspices of the Linux Foundation) as baseline for the design of the AI Agent protocol. The proposed charter is being discussed on the agent2agent@ietf.org <mailto:agent2agent@ietf.org> list. Dave Raggett <dsr@w3.org>
