Talk on where next for AI

I was in Ireland last week and gave an invited talk on the future of AI at the Insight Centre for Data Analytics in Galway. My talk described my vision of where AI is heading, covering low-code real-time control for swarms of digital twins, research challenges for evolving from generative to sentient AI, the continuing role of symbolic approaches and the need to evolve information systems from logical proof to rational argument citing my work on PKN.

p.s. today’s robots are used for highly repetitive work, but run into problems when there is something out of the ordinary. Chunks & rules will make it easy to switch behaviours as needed, e.g. when a box has been removed or added to a pallet by a human factory worker. Further out, the integration of sentient AI will go even further, allowing human workers to direct robots by speech and by showing them what is expected.
