Introductions ...

In case you don’t already know me, I am a member of the W3C staff and attached to the European host (ERCIM). I work from home in the west of England where the weather is decidedly not as good as the ERCIM offices in the south of France! I have been involved in web standards since the beginning of the Web and have also been involved in work on AI, first at the Machine Intelligence Research Unit at the University of Edinburgh, then the Logic Programming Department at Imperial College, London, and later, the Knowledge-Based Programming Department of HP Laboratories, Bristol, UK.

I am a long time fan of John Anderson’s pioneering work on Cognitive AI, and see a huge potential for building useful AI applications inspired by functional models of the human mind, and based upon decades of advances in the cognitive sciences, including psychology, sociology and neuroscience. There are many possible application areas. Let’s make this happen!

p.s. don’t be shy - please introduce yourself even if you only intend to observe rather than getting hands on with the activities of the Cognitive AI Community Group.
