simple language thread from peter

We really need to track this so I am sending it to the comments list so we can track it. (and cc'ing peter so he can follow as well) Please forward comments to the comment list (<public-coga-comments@w3.org>) with a useful subject line (or add it to the github issues)

My 2 cents is that

1. The appendix on making content usable for people with learning disabilities which is for a wide audience, should use simple language and have a further simple language summary. We may need to add some W3C Jargon like the abstract and scope but this should come with a simple language summary if possible.

2. Publishing the appendix as a separate note so the internal W3C focused roadmap does not get confused with it.

3And a simple language summary for the main document - the internal W3C focused roadmap to help people participate in the W3C

Peter thank you for your comments. We would also appreciate more comments :) - possibly focusing on the appendix

the appendix is an first outline draft and we would appreciate guidance to make it as effective as possible.

All the best

Hello Glenda, All:

I feel the need to say a bit more on the subject of simplified language.

Please pardon my not getting this all out in the first instance.

I think it critical that our TR published Gap Analysis and Road Map use

language that is as simplified as we can make it consistent with also

expressing all the detail we need to express as well as all the nuance

we may need to convey. The Einsteinian aphorism is apt: "Things should

be simplified as much as possible--and no more."

Now, if that does not produce a document with sufficiently simple

English, and we discover we have need for a version that removes some or

much of the detail and nuance in order to communicate to certain

communities, we can do that at the point that we consider other

translations. However, any such derivative version would certainly come

with strong disclaimers about its completeness.

Bottom line remains the same. We're not there yet.
