Hi all, I thought I would let you know that I've started to draft a report inspired by the very many discussions on the list as well as side discussions prompted by our work. It's far from being complete, and will need a lot more work, but it might be interesting for some of you to have an early look and provide early feedback: http://www.w3.org/2013/07/mobile-gap-analysis/ Among other things, it attempts at settling terminology around web apps & native apps, it identifies the various parameters of UX in which Web apps and native apps are in competition (I still need to add the actual analysis based on these parameters), as well as the parameters of the provider environment that are considered for picking a platform or another, and it takes a first stab at analyzing what development approach gets chosen for what type of app on desktop and mobile. My expectations is that when and if the Web & Mobile Interest Group gets chartered [1], this could serve as a starting point for its "gap analysis" deliverable.
