Dear CDF working group. This is a comment on the W3C Working Draft Dated 09 August 2005 of "Compound Document Framework 1.0 and WICD Profiles" http://www.w3.org/TR/2005/WD-WICD-20050809/ This first public working draft includes a conformance section... Bravo! The sections does a good job at defining classes of product, clarifying conformance keywords, and stats addressing conformance for the various classes of products. The conformance section, however, does not seem to address the CDF, only document and UA conformance to WICD profiles. This is probably due to the fact that CDF's scope (and, therefore, conformance) is not clear yet. A good test of whether CDF has been properly reorganized to have a clear scope and conformance model will be to create its complete conformance section. This should be done as early as possibly, since CDF is supposedly the foundation of the rest of the CDF/WICD technology.
