Dear members of the Browser Testing and Tools Working Group, For your information: -------- Forwarded Message -------- Subject: VOTE by 2026-09-18: Proposed Charter for the Browser Testing and Tools Working Group; Current Charter Extended Resent-Date: Tue, 18 Aug 2026 10:05:15 +0000 Resent-From: w3c-ac-members@w3.org Date: Tue, 18 Aug 2026 18:05:07 +0800 From: Xueyuan Jia <xueyuan@w3.org> To: w3c-ac-forum@w3.org Dear Advisory Committee Representative, [This announcement will be forwarded to W3C group chairs] This is a Call for Review of a proposed recharter for the Browser Testing and Tools Working Group: https://www.w3.org/2026/08/btt-wg-charter-proposed.html Please review the charter and indicate your support using this online form: https://www.w3.org/wbs/33280/btt-charter-2026/ The deadline for responses is 23:59 UTC on 2026-09-18 [0]. The mission of the Browser Testing and Tools Working Group is to produce technologies for use in testing, debugging, and troubleshooting of Web applications running in Web browsers. During the previous chartering period, the Working Group focused on the WebDriver BiDi specification, now published on the Recommendation track as a Working Draft. The specification should soon undergo horizontal review with a view to being published as a Candidate Recommendation Snapshot. The proposed scope remains unchanged. Main proposed change is to drop AT Driver from the list of deliverables due to lack of participation from would-be implementers in the Working Group. The ARIA Working Group may choose to adopt the specification when it considers rechartering at the end of 2026. Other changes align the proposed charter with the charter template. The Team resource allocation remains at 0.05 FTE. Current participants will not need to rejoin the group if the revised charter is approved. For all information about the review and progress of this charter (including horizontal reviews), please see: https://github.com/w3c/strategy/issues/558 No comments were received during the charter refinement period, the issue in the Strategy funnel summarizes the outcome of discussions with the ARIA Working Group around the AT Driver specification: https://github.com/w3c/strategy/issues/558#issuecomment-5089104356 To see all changes relative to the current charter, follow this link: https://services.w3.org/htmldiff?doc1=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2024%2Fbtt-wg-charter.html&doc2=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2026%2F08%2Fbtt-wg-charter-proposed.html The current charter [1] is hereby extended until 23 October 2026 to accommodate the charter review period.
