Hello Mobile Web Best Practices working group, As expected, the Mobile Web Application Best Practices document was published as a second last call on Tuesday. It is available at: http://www.w3.org/TR/2010/WD-mwabp-20100713/ The Last Call review period extends until 6 August 2010. The document returned to Last Call from Candidate Recommendation. The 3 ex-best practices that got moved from best practices to advisory notes are: - Consider Use of Canvas Element or SVG For Dynamic Graphics - Inform the User About Automatic Network Access - Provide Sufficient Means to Control Automatic Network Access I prepared a new implementation report and implementation report template that matches the new list of best practices. I kept the advisory notes at the end, noting that they are not to be viewed as regular best practices: http://www.w3.org/2010/07/mwabp-implementation-report http://www.w3.org/2010/07/mwabp-implementation-report-template We should now look around and find the implementation feedback that's still missing. The best practices we're most interested in are: 12. Aggregate Static Images into a Single Composite Resource (Sprites) 14. Cache Resources By Fingerprinting Resource References 22. Use Fragment IDs to Drive Application View 27. Use Meta Viewport Element To Identify Desired Screen Size These ones should be easy to find! 15. Cache AJAX Data 26. Consider Mobile Specific Technologies for Initiating Web Applications These one could be slightly harder to find in the wild. We already have a full and a partial implementations for the first one and three partial implementations for the second one, though. Please consider submitting an implementation report if you developed Web applications that match one of these best practices. Thanks for dispatching this call for implementationotherwise. Thanks, Francois
