New draft of the Mobile Web Application Best Practices for review

Dear BPWG participants,

As agreed on Tuesday, I prepared a draft version of the Mobile Web Application Best Practices with the changes that were agreed. This draft should be published next week as a second Last Call working draft. It is available for your review at:

  http://www.w3.org/2005/MWI/BPWG/Group/Drafts/BestPractices-2.0/ED-mobile-bp2-20100708

The changes are:

1. Best practices "Inform the User About Automatic Network Access" and "Provide Sufficient Means to Control Automatic Network Access" were demoted as best practices and moved to the 3.7 Further Considerations section.

2. The 3.7 Further Considerations is now explicit that the considerations it contains, including 3.7.1 Consider User of Canvas Element or SVG For Dynamic Graphics, are advisory notes from the Working Group.
[ Dan, feel free to send me a better text! ]

I have also updated the list of best practices as a consequences:
  http://www.w3.org/2005/MWI/BPWG/Group/Drafts/BestPractices-2.0/ED-mobile-bp2-20100708

... and updated the "Status of this Document" section to reflect the changes and the fact that the group expects to request direct transition to Proposed Recommendation once the review period for this second last call working draft is over. I included a note in the exit criteria that implementation feedback for the advisory notes is not mandatory for the document to move forward.

Please review the document carefully and send me comments as soon as possible. In the absence of objections, the document should be published as a second Last Call working draft next Tuesday (20 July 2010).

Thanks,
Francois.

PS: I still need to update the implementation report and the implementation report template to reflect the removal of the best practices. I will do it before the document gets published.
