Note from Rhys re CT Task Force Leadership

Hi folks

Sadly, per the following note, Rhys no longer feels he has the time to commit to the Content Transformation Task Force. Unfortunately we have no choice but to accept his departure and look for a new leader.

Per the standing rules for Task Forces [1], each Task Force must have a leader. While I am willing to act as interim leader I am already over-committed, as well as now being the sole editor of the Guidelines. On yesterday's Task Force call [2], I asked Task Force members to consider stepping forward as leader. While members consider this, I wanted to open the question of leadership to the whole working group.

The work is at a critical stage and if we are to make our December deadline then the group will require good organization and purposeful resolution of issues to achieve this.

Absent a leader stepping forward shortly, we have a couple of options:

a) take the work into the main body of the Working Group;
b) close the Task Force down.

My strongly preferred option is that a leader emerges and that the work continues in the Task Force as before. I am reluctant to consider taking the work on in the main group, as we have already done that with the Accessibility Task Force and will be fully committed to advancing that document, as well as initiating BP 2.0.

I find it inconceivable that we would halt the work of the group, however that does remain a theoretical possibility.

I'd be grateful for your views, and if you'd like to discuss off-list please mail Dan and me directly.

Thanks
Jo

Subject: Hanging up my Chair's hat

Hello everyone,

It is with great regret that I have to announce my withdrawal as chair of the MWI BP Content Transformation Task Force. You'll have noticed that my participation in the group has been at very low levels recently. My other work for Volantis is unfortunately preventing me from engaging properly in the activities of the task force. This is not tenable for a chair.

I'm really sorry about this, and wish it were otherwise.

Two people from Volantis will be joining the task force. Many of you will already know Martin Jones, from his work with DDWG. In addition, Dave Roberts is also joining the group. Both have specific interests in this particular piece of work.

Can I just say that it was a pleasure working with you all and I wish you success with creation of the Guidelines.

Best wishes
Rhys
