Gene type for review

Hi All

One of the outcomes of the F2F meeting was a review of the Gene type and the properties that were defined for it. I have now updated the version deployed on appspot and would appreciate any comments on the current proposal. Please note that we still need to update the Gene profile to reflect these changes.
