The person or persons who prepared the abstract. Although these should be circulated to the community to give others a chance to be involved.

For the others, is there any paper/webpage that summarizes the contributor roles ontology and gives examples?  I've poked around the credit website but it's not clear to me how it works.  Perhaps others are more familiar and I just need to poke around more.

The crucial point is that you should be able to articulate your contribution and others should be able to recognise that contribution as being worthy of inclusion in the author list. CRediT is just a suggestion of how this may be achieved.
