Minutes for AWPAT Conference Call

Please find the minutes for yesterday's call.

1. Related Activities:
1). Open Mobile Alliance have published HTML5 Deployment Suites:

    Now they are working on CSS3 testing. OMA mainly makes profile for
mobile.

2. Objectives:
  Compatibility testing: Be compatible with HTML5 specfication, but current
test suites include both frozen features and features under development.
Want to make a profile, which only includes frozen features.
 
3. Work methods:
  Reuse current open source project: There already have an open source “test
the web forward project”:  http://testthewebforward.org/
<http://testthewebforward.org/> .  We can discuss the ideas to enhance this
project in this community group, instead of starting a new one. If we can
have some concrete ideas, we should contribute code to the test project.
 
4. Plans: 
  1). Write a manifest file that can differentiate the test cases for the
stable features of H5 and  the features that are still under discussion.
Then contribute it to the testthewebforward project.  A GUI menu that allows
the user to select which feature group is going to be used in the test could
also be useful.
  2). Find the cases where things that people want to put together in a
real-world app that don't work. This community group would collect code from
their real apps, identify problems, and use that information to narrow the
problem down until we can create a specific test - which we should
contribute to testthewebforward project.
 
5. Options:
1) Modify Manifest file directly.
2) Extend the test framework. For all the test cases, we can judge whether
the test feature is frozen or not, and mark it accordingly. When we excute
the test manifest file, it can only execute the frozen test cases, based on
the mark.
Preference: Option 1.
 
6. Actions:
1) Need to analyze, which test cases belong to frozen features.
2) Need to divide the work among interested parties, and start to write
manifest file.

Hello all,
I have some initial proposals to trigger the discussion.
There already have an open source “test the web forward project”:
http://testthewebforward.org/.
My thought is to discuss the ideas to enhance this project in this community
group, instead of starting a new one. If we can have some concrete idea,
then we should contribute code to the test project.

Hello all:
Welcome to join the AWPAT (Advancing Web Platform Applications Testing)
Community Group.
In W3C TPAC F2F meeting, we had a breakout session about HTML5 testing, and
as a outcome, this AWPAT Community Group was created.
This community develops test cases, requirements for testing and using the
web platform. It works with existing communities and to enhance them, not
replace them.
