Audiovisual Media Formats for Browsers Community Group - First Meeting

Dear members of the W3C ‘Audiovisual Media Formats for Browsers’ Community Group.

Thank you all for joining our new community group over the past year! This is our first group communication since our initial in-person meeting at TPAC 2022 in Vancouver. You might have been wondering about the apparent dormancy of our group, but Chris Needham and I have not been inactive over the months. Based on good feedback from you and your colleagues at TPAC 2022 and over the year as well as discussions with industry representatives, we worked on refining the initial direction and objectives of this group.
Particular focus was placed on how we can align this group’s mission to identify potential approaches for realistic handling of topics containing aspects of commercial nature and to complement the work of other, already existing media related W3C groups.

With that, we think it is time to set our first meeting to discuss the progress since TPAC 2022 and identify the ongoing direction of our group with all of you. To identify a good time for the meeting, please use the following Doodle Poll:

TPAC 2023
If you are planning on joining the W3C community in Seville, Spain for TPAC 2023, we would also like to invite you to join us for our community group’s breakout session on Thursday, Sept, 14th from 9.30am to 11am.

Thank you all for being patient with the start-up process of our new group. We are excited to work with all of you on making this group a beneficial and successful addition to the W3C family of groups.
