Sorry about that. An inadvertent emacs keystroke from within mail client resulted in premature send. I hope all who intend to attend TPAC have registered by now. If you have any difficulties or questions please ask on call or by email. https://www.w3.org/2018/10/TPAC/ I have invited a few observers from companies we would like to see involved in our activity, do please share suggestions and make any necessary introductions accordingly. I started a wiki page for agenda topics, feel free to propose by email or add to the wiki and we will finalize later. https://www.w3.org/auto/wg/wiki/F2F-201810 The BG is meeting on Tuesday with the main focus being the data task force. As the BG is an incubator for our activity, any potential automotive standardization areas people are interested in exploring can be introduced as well. Wednesday is the Plenary Day, an unconference. You can see proposed topics at the following wiki and make suggestions of your own. https://www.w3.org/wiki/TPAC/2018/SessionIdeas On our call last week we discussed some desired liaisons with other groups and individuals and I said I would look over schedule to see which W3C groups will be there. https://www.w3.org/2018/10/TPAC/schedule.html Some pertinent ones from my read, again feel free to make additional suggestions including topics you would like to discuss with them so we can communicate them in our invitation. We may have sessions with both full groups, send or receive a few delegates or declined if their agenda is too full. I am not seeing Schema.org people meeting nor specific individual who is often at these as registered. I will try to find some SemWeb geeks in attendance who can join us on Tuesday. The Privacy IG isn't meeting but some individuals will be around and will try to invite a couple. I will share details with the group on upcoming the Privacy UI workshop as I feel it would be quite useful for capturing consent. * Devices and Sensors WG Those who were at the Sapporo F2F will remember how Tobie Langel led us through a discussion on whether our earlier WebIDL approach was the right one for our needs and encouraged us to consider representing vehicles as a collection of sensors. While we deemed collection of sensors not best suited for our purposes, the resulting thought exercises brought us to a service based approach and decision to abandon the browser centric one. Technical Architecture Group (TAG) We had a couple people, Daniel Appelquist and Hadley Beeman, join us in Burlingame. It may be wise to bring them or others in for v2 discussion on Thursday. We also have a pending review of VISS that they may want more input on. Web Authentication WG Since authentication is a piece we identified as something we want to cover for v2, it would make sense to see if we can get a few people from this group to join us. Web Payments WG Web Commerce IG The is the less technical, more strategic compliment to Web Payments who we would be more likely to meet with of the two. Similar to our BG. We have met with the corresponding Interest Group in the past, including Burlingame, as we were exploring applying their solution to automotive use cases. That task force covered feasibility and identified some gaps (eg initiating communication to vehicle through NFC, BT beacon, other) that would either need to be standardized but did not succeed in gathering momentum. We had a major payment provider, and potentially a second, express interest in doing a proof of concept provided we had a willing OEM. Until an OEM steps up, Ian and I decided to shelve this task force. As such I think we should not seek a meeting with them this TPAC. Web Real-Time Communications WG WebRTC is what provided browser capability to the WebEx instance we use so a separate client isn't needed. It is used by a growing number of other teleconferencing systems. Besides VoIP teleconferencing and screen sharing, it covers data streaming capabilities and may be worth looking at based on streaming conversation last week. With increased reliability and bandwidth of 5G, it might be interesting to apply to automotive for teleconferencing and user support among possibly other use cases. Linked Building Data CG We are not getting into Smart Cities and v2i explicitly but that would be our intersection for that group. There are some discussions about forming a standards activity at W3C around Smart Cities but it is still early on. JSON-LD WG For handling writes back in JSON. Web of Things WG/IG We have met with them in the past as we have multiple mutual interests. HTTPS in Local Network CG Junichi from KDDI led a Plenary Day unconference sessions at the Lisbon TPAC which resulted in the forming of this group. Handling and verifying LAN certificates This might be more a group to follow or we might want to see if we can get an update on their activity and ensure our needs don't differ from what they are working on. -- Ted Guild <ted@w3.org> W3C Automotive Lead http://www.w3.org
