We do want to avoid looping conversation but it is worth trying to objectively discuss the strengths of the two approaches for a next version. This was done outside of the W3C group and not from someone with a stake in either solution. While there are some misconceptions, such as extensibility, they may arise from lack of clarity on our end. If we gave that impression, we should learn how the conclusion was drawn in order to correct the spec and prevent subsequent readers, especially prospective implementers, from drawing the same conclusion.
