Dear Colleagues:

This is a Call for Consensus (CfC) to publish the Candidate Release
(CR) of the Vehicle Information Service Specification (VISS) developed
by the Automotive Working Group and detailed by the following Editors'
Draft (ED):

https://w3c.github.io/automotive/vehicle_data/vehicle_information_service.html

The goal of this specification is to provide a unified platform interface for
web applications to access sensors and actuators on vehicles. This specification
has been developed in the support and collaboration of automakers and suppliers
and the GENIVI Alliance (www.genivi.org).

This CfC satisfies the group requirements and the group has been
addressing requests,
comments and issues raised by the broader community [1] since the
Working Draft (WD)
has been published in October 2016.

By publishing this CR, the group sends a signal to the community to begin
reviewing the document. The CR reflects where the group is on this spec at
the time of publication; it does not necessarily mean there is consensus on
the spec's contents.

If you have any comments or concerns about this CfC, please send them
topublic-automotive@w3.org

by January 26, 2018 at the latest. Positive response is
preferred and encouraged and silence will be considered as agreement with
the proposal.

For the chairs,

Rudolf J Streif
