Re: Proposing ACT-R Community Group

Hi Wilco,

I have shown my support of the group, but I would like to know why it is suddenly referred to as “ACT-R”. I thought we had agreed that it was the ACT Rules CG.

I think that “ACT Rules” indicates much better what the rule is for and about than “ACT-R” which is very abstract and could be pretty much anything, and will always have to be accompanied by an explanation, even to people who has heard it before as long as they are not directly involved themselves.

I really think we should consider sticking with “ACT Rules” as our official name.

Best Regards

Howdy former auto-wcag'ers!
It is time for a transition! I have just created a proposal for the ACT-R Community Group on W3.org. As agreed upon late last year, the Auto-WCAG community group needs to rebrand. Our name no longer suits the work we do.

The ACT-R community needs to have 5 approvals before it is approved. Please have a look here:
https://www.w3.org/community/groups/proposed/<https://nam01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2Fcommunity%2Fgroups%2Fproposed%2F&data=02%7C01%7Cath%40siteimprove.com%7Cc91f5ccd1e694ed915a208d6b8ea46d8%7Cad30e5bc301d40dba10a0e8d40abe0f9%7C1%7C0%7C636899713690934395&sdata=JJ9UQqGwN4CqB3A5H5a3RNBQF6X1filNBXwq%2F9qzFWc%3D&reserved=0>

If the group is no longer on the list, that means it has been approved, and you should be able to find it here:
https://www.w3.org/community/act-r/<https://nam01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2Fcommunity%2Fact-r%2F&data=02%7C01%7Cath%40siteimprove.com%7Cc91f5ccd1e694ed915a208d6b8ea46d8%7Cad30e5bc301d40dba10a0e8d40abe0f9%7C1%7C0%7C636899713690934395&sdata=JV61FaXC5%2B%2FwrYedKwAkvMbkANk9pxT0Zjmqq%2FfhisA%3D&reserved=0>

Once approved, I ask everyone that is currently a member of Auto-WCAG to become a member of the ACT-R Community Group. The Auto-WCAG Community group will remain open for a little while, to give everyone time to transition. The intent is that once all active Auto-WCAG members are transitioned over to the new group, the Auto-WCAG community group will be archived. I expect this will take a few months.

Over the coming week, we will also be transitioning the Auto-WCAG website to an entirely new ACT-R Community website. Our Github repository will also be moved from auto-wcag/auto-wcag to a new repository under the W3C Github organisation. Exactly how we'll do this will be the first agenda item of the next ACT-R / Auto-WCAG call.

As always, when you sign up to a community group, if you work for a W3C member, you will need to get approval for this from your advisory comity representative (AC rep). If you have any questions please let me know.

Kind regards,
