Minutes for Teleconference on 23 October 2014

Automated WCAG Monitoring Community Group
Teleconference 2014-10-23, 16:00 - 17:00 h (CET)

Participants: Wilco, Kamyar, Sharron, Annika, Katie, Hanno, John, Frank
(scribe)

ITEM 1 Action items:
https://www.w3.org/community/auto-wcag/wiki/Action_items
Annika: Writing on eGovMon tests for 3.2 is postponed to 06 November 2014
Wilco: Sent Email to Jesse about the group and work references.
Kamyar: Updated Test cases from 3.2.3
Birkir: Startet a Twitter account: Auto-wcag community (@autowcag) [1].
Jesse: Not on the call and not known: Contact the Google Doc
accessibility team to see if they are interested in autowcag work.

ITEM 2: Review 2.4.2 Titles across pages [2]
Birkir is not on the call; changes are pending.
Wilco: Summarized comments given so far at the corresponding discussion
page [3].
No further comments.

ITEM 3: Review 3.2.3 Navigational links across pages [4]
Kamyar: Selector has changed from selecting all links on the page to
just selecting links to the same domain wrapped in nav/ol/ul elements.
Wilco: What is compared under point 3 of step 1?

Katie: A test of the links is not needed.
Wilco: Breadcrumbs are mostly not lists.
Katie: There are many lists with links on a page, which are not
necessarily for navigation purposes.
Annika: Location and link text should be compared.
Katie: The location of links is covered by SC 3.2.4 (Consistent
Identification).
Wilco: Comparing the link text is sufficient.
Hanno: Shouldn't you compare group of links? It can be that groups are
in another order.
Hanno: What if a link doesn't appear in the group, for example because
it is a menu-item to the current page?
Annika: G61 says relative order.
Katie: This is a different test.
Annika: For example, if there are 2 lists of links; assemble one list to
compare the order.
Katie: Multiple lists are needed.
Annika: That would mean high complexity.
Katie: What if the order was changed by the user.
Annika: This case should be added to the assumptions. The test assumes
that the order of links was not changed be the user.
Katie: To add that assumption is no solution for multiple lists.
Wilco: We should do a brute force comparison of each list with each list
of the other page.
Annika: We should use 1 list per page.
Hanno: This is a problem, if links repeat, doubled could be ignored.
Katie: Separate tests should be done for single lists.
Katie: I suggest also having a test that looks for at least three <a>
elements in a row, and then checking those across pages - and maybe with
in the same page...
Wilco: Some research is needed. Action point for Kamyar.

ITEM 4: Review 2.4.4 Img alt anchor [5]
Annika: Summarized her comments at the corresponding discussion page
[6]. One of them is that the test is the same as step 1 of
SC4-1-2-anchor [7].
Wilco: That is intentional. Titles are sufficient as names (SC4.1.2) but
not for SC 2.4.4.
Katie: Complementary title texts must be taken into account. There was a
lot of discussion about this on the WAI mailing lists.
Katie: ACTION to send further information. Is title acceptable for an
alternative in HTML5 if there is no text at all in alt.
Annika: The test should be aligned to F89 or is should be stated under
assumptions why it deviates from the Technique.

ITEM 5 + 6: Finalizing 3.1.1 Language of Page [7] and 3.1.2 Language of
Parts [8]
Wilco: No further comments.

Decision: Most of the test will undergo several rounds of reviews.
Please mark the comments that have been addressed already by moving them
under the heading "Closed issues" on the corresponding discussion page.
See example [9].
