You can certainly do it with custom controls, but when using the
native controls you have no guarantees whatsoever about what they look
like or where they are placed.

If you have further questions, whatwg@whatwg.org or public-html@w3.org
would be a better forum, since this is about the HTML <audio> element,
not the Web Audio API specifically.
