Progress update

Hi all,

It's been a while since we had much activity, and I'm sure a lot of that is down to me having my time taken by other things. I have taken advantage of a slight lull in other proceedings caused by the pandemic you may have heard about to make a small amount of progress.

You might have noticed that I recently merged a couple of long standing but minor pull requests on the specification document at https://w3c.github.io/adpt/ - no doubt there are many more improvements still to make.

You might also be interested to take a look at the latest iteration of our Adhere implementation at https://bbc.github.io/Adhere/

We recently added some example demo content to make it easier to see how it works in practice without having to root around looking for videos and audio description scripts. We also added support for the TTML2 2nd Edition test that allows audio elements to be children of body elements. All feedback welcome of course.

I hope you are well and managing with whatever local situation you have regarding the virus, and look forward to picking this work up with extra vigour in the coming weeks and months.

As always, please do get in touch if there's anything you'd like to talk about regarding audio description. I'd love to know what your vision for an ideal audio description experience would be.

Kind regards,

Nigel
