Differing Combobox Search Types

Hi,
As requested, here are examples of differing search types for role=combobox.

The attribute usage is the same, however the way that strings are parsed to return matches is different for each.

Note: It appears that aria-live=”polite” is broken in Chrome Beta, so the initial search result is not announced as it is in Firefox for screen reader users.

Example 1 (State edit field): Basic string search, where only the first matching characters are evaluated.

Example 2 (Author edit field): Substring search, where anything matching the substring is returned. E.G. Type “hum” or “sci”

Example 3 (Hardware search): Single or combined word search, where only matches that include all typed words are returned. E.G. Type “bell printer”, or “ati video”, or “video cards”
