Hi everyone, As usual, the minutes below. Best, Peter. Minutes, ARIA Editors meeting 2023-06-26 Present jamesn, scotto, daniel, peter Regrets spectranaut, mattking Agenda - All the links are broken in core-aam - continue discussion around marking up advice for AT in the specs. - core-aam#180, replacing the mapping tables in the AAMs pkra: agenda ... spectranaut had sent core-aam links breakage daniel: should be fixed now? jamesn: will check ... why are we referencing ARIA 1.1? daniel: we should update them jamesn: we won't have a WD or CR for this, so we need to update links ... not even ED ... which version of ARIA the CD ... definitely not 1.1 daniel: didn't realize that. jamesn: can we change accname as well? scotto: just link to accname, no -aam jamesn: links to 1.2 which is ancient daniel: ED can stay? jamesn: but we don't have one anymore? daniel: will check and update to 1.2 jamesn: link to non-versioned wai-aria ... if we have 1.3, we can consider changing pkra: continue discussion around advice for AT ... we left it at "we need to prototype something" ... where? jamesn: ARIA only? me: also dpub-aria and graphics-aria ... but aria makes sense jamesn: maybe start with a specific section ... last week's ARIA WG we spoke about ARIA Sec 8.6 ... lots of MUST but no AT so pkra: I'll file an issue on ARIA scotto: good to get to this ... recent discussion on a11y slack ... confusion around non-modal dialog ... would be good to have ... but not MUSTs, more notes pkra: could do SHOULDs jamesn: we started with Notes, but e.g., cyns arguing for more ... "screenreader AT must expose attribute somehow..." ... will have to split up into different ATs scotto: I wonder how far we can go with MUST or SHOULD without involving them jamesn: we have to involve them. pkra: +1 scotto: perhaps we should do this first jamesn: this came somewhat from that end, asking for advice pkra: I'm really on cyns's side. We need better guidance ... and clearer about different AT, e.g., read aloud not even taking alt text into account pkra: core-aam#180 ... I had taken a look jamesn: the broken references might be due to ARIA linkage issue ... not merged into branch pkra: I trust Valerie on completeness but do we need formal checks that everything is still there? jamesn: let's fix the references first ... but I also trust Valerie scotto: no strong opinion on this change ... but if we do, do we need the table? jamesn: right, not sure either scotto: but also not sure if details+summary is right given issues ... then tables inside. ... should we even need jamesn: can you talk with Valerie about what you want to have? scotto: sounds good Am Mo., 26.
