Hi everyone, As usual, the minutes from today are below Best, Peter. # ARIA editors meeting minutes 2023-07-10 Agenda * update on spec markup for advice for AT * update on Valerie's PR for replacing the mapping tables in the AAMs (core-aam#180) to look at. * prettier experiment https://github.com/w3c/graphics-aria/pull/10 * quo vadis contributors.md * regrets: James, Matt * present: daniel, scotto, pkra, valerie, jemma pkra: Val's PR for table markup, core-aam#180 ... thanks to scotto for the review valerie: would love scotto's input for design / markup scotto: as mentioned last week, we had table for table view ... FF still has a problem with focusable inside caption ... right now, e.g., JAWS going from opening link to caption won't say anything ... pkra had commented on repetition ... so my question was: could we do better? ... but then I felt that we really have better things to do with our time valerie: feel the same ... e.g., would love to have something to click to get a self-link ... can't figure out a good way to add a self-link ... any ideas? scotto: good point ... general thought: what are we really gaining from hiding the spec in disclosure widgets ... just have it all in there. valerie: +1 pkra: +1 scotto: if we do this, step further: captions as headings ... thus outside the table ... could still aria-labeledBy to name table ... that would also solve FF issue valerie: +1 ... will update my rewrite script, update PR ... then run it on html-aam, svg-aam, too pkra: +1 scotto: +1 valerie: then we get self-links from headings for free pkra: @daniel anything from w3c to consider? daniel: all good scotto: gets more JS out as well emma: +1 pkra: for the next meeting Matt is out, pkra too -- I'm guessing james as well ... shall we skip? all: +1 pkra: next: spec markup for AT advice ... let's skip b/c james is out pkra: next: prettier test PR https://github.com/w3c/graphics-aria/pull/10 ... James wanted to take a look but if others can take a look, that'd be great ... I went with line-width 200 which felt reasonable val: looks good pkra: then I'll make more PRs like it daniel: let's not merge before James takes a look pkra: yes! pkra: contributors.md ... came up recently (but couldn't find issue or PR) ... we had talk about replacing it ... where do we go? val: which files? pkra: https://github.com/w3c/aria-common/tree/main/acknowledgements val: so just attribution via github? pkra: yes, plus some historically important ones, ... iirc james had suggested this to ... via commits but james also wanted to know if issues could count ... a good bug report can be important daniel: last time we spoke, it wasn't clear where we could get what ... didn't have time to dive deeper pkra: but git/github based still sounds good to everyone? all: +1 daniel: I can look a bit more pkra: happy to help / take over later Am Fr., 7.
