Argumentation Community Group, Argumentation Theory, I’ve updated the Wikipedia article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argumentation_theory with interpretive argumentation http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argumentation_theory#Interpretive_argumentation . To the artificial intelligence topics, formal models of interpretative argumentation are pertinent to topics in artificial intelligence, including natural language understanding. Such models can enhance the heuristics, or metaheuristics, with which artifacts can compare and explain linguistic interpretations. Natural language understanding components can be designed such that components’ output interpretations are the interpretations which would result from interpretive argumentation processes between possible interpretations. The capability to argue between interpretations and to explain each interpretation can enhance natural language understanding components as well as systems utilizing such components. Topical to natural language understanding components and systems are natural language toolkits (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Outline_of_natural_language_processing#Natural_language_processing_toolkits). Approaches to natural language understanding also include cognitive architectures (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cognitive_architecture, http://act-r.psy.cmu.edu/publication/) where interpretive argumentation as a metaheuristic could be topical.
