PhD Candidate in Augmented Reality for Next-Generation Maritime Training at UiT-The Arctic University of Norway?

The Department of Engineering and Safety (IIS), has a PhD position vacant for applicants who wish to obtain the degree of Philosophiae Doctor (PhD). The position is affiliated with IIS and closely linked with the Advanced maritime ship operations research group at UiT - The Arctic university of Norway. ?


The position's field of research/research project and other duties

The position is closely linked with an ongoing European research and innovation project supported under Horizon 2020 called WEKIT. WEKIT stands for Wearable Experience for Knowledge Intensive Training. The aim of WEKIT is to bring learning content and technical documentation to life via task-sensitive Augmented Reality (AR), making training more efficient, affordable and engaging. In this project, we aim to develop WEKIT for training in maritime domain. Experience in maritime domain is encouraged, but not mandatory. The project requires strong programming & information technology skills, and may require some travel.?
