Re: Agenda: APA Weekly Teleconference; Wednesday 23 September at 1600z

Hello all,

Please find the minutes for the meeting at <https://www.w3.org/2020/09/23-apa-minutes.html> and below for convenience.

Personal note: it was really interesting hearing Daltonization come up; I learnt of it some time ago but haven’t met it for a while :-).

Best regards,

Matthew

Becky: Registration is open (and free).
... we have scheduled 6 meetings during the week.

Becky: HTML group won't be meeting; we are working on meeting with the
TAG around Pronunciation and Personalization.
... there are two separate weeks; so far we don't have any planned for
the second.

      Task Force Updates

Janina: Josh has been helping us put together some videos demonstrating
our technology. e.g. Pronunciation.
... These are general introduction videos.
... from RQTF today: is there a requirement for how tightly coupled
audio and video need to be in synchronized media in order to make sense?
Research shows the optimal comprehension is if the video is some number
of milliseconds ahead of the audio - i.e. humans inherently lipread;
stunning! If it's more than 200ms, comprehension falls off.

Becky: Personalization: working on Explainer for the TAG (amongst other
things).
... Going through internationalization and grammatical review.
... ...working to release the content module (the first).

      FAST Progress Josh

Michael, Josh: More on this after present work on Silver.

Michael: Color contrast research is onging as part of Silver so could be
relevant here.

Janina: Would Daltonization be relevant? (Correction for people with
colour perception deficit, to maximise the distinguishing info provided
by an image.)

<Joshue_108> http://www.daltonize.org <http://www.daltonize.org/>

Becky: Daltonization sounds like an AT.

Michael: This seems focused on how to get W3C technologies to take
advantage of the existing work on color and HDR; we would want
Daltonization to continue to be possible.

<Joshue_108> That is a good question from Michael

Michael: Would HDR mean there is less scope for luminosity contrast
barriers? Would need resarch.

Becky: How should we track this?
