RE: Additional Use Cases for RQTF in RTC

In the real-time communication case, the captions and descriptions would need to be live, not prerecorded as in a media player. Has anyone experimented with this arrangement?

We already know about the requirement to allow a “relay service” to enter a real-time conversation to provide transcriptions, enabling a person who is deaf to participate. Might an “audio description of video” service also be needed as an option for users who are blind? At least, one of the participants should be able to provide the descriptions – preferably only to the parties who need it without affecting everyone’s audio.

Thanks a lot for the feedback Josh.

Yes you are right, some of the UC were already considered in the UC list. We just try to provide some more input.

I think that also the "Audio-subtitling/spoken subtitles" issue (case 2), not to confuse with "audio-description" is currently a major problem in most media players.

As described in the UC2, for instance a Spanish speaking blind user might watch a video in English with Spanish subtitles/captions, but he does not know English and the media player does not read the Spanish subtitles/captions aloud.

If we can provide any further insight for the UC please let us know.

Tema: Re: Additional Use Cases for RQTF in RTC

Thanks for these Estel-la - useful input. My initial thoughts are that
some of these may already be covered by the use cases we have in the draft.

In particular, the ability to change the font, size etc based on your
preference, if you think this should be made clearer let me know. [1]

Honouring user preferences is certainly an implicit requirement in these
use cases.

The Sound Mix suggestion is interesting, and while it may be already
covered in the 'Multi Channel' use case, I think your suggestion makes
the need to cater for Audio Description, and changes in volume relative
to various sounds sources, clearer. So that would be an improvement. [2]

So I will add this requirement to the doc.

Thanks for the useful considered input.

Josh
