Colleagues: This is a Call for Consensus (CfC) to the Accessible Platform Architectures (APA) Working Group on a proposed specification review comment to the CSS Working Group. * Background Information This CfC is issued pursuant to a resolution logged by APA during its regularly scheduled teleconference of Wednesday 27 July and logged at: https://www.w3.org/2016/07/27-apa-minutes.html#ResolutionSummary The proposed comment below was previously posted to public-apa at: http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-apa/2016Jul/0040.html * Proposed Comment The Accessible Platform Architectures (APA) Working Group requests addition of the following section to the specification css color module level 4 https://www.w3.org/tr/css-color-4/ Accessibility Impact Statement Content authors should be mindful of requirements on color contrast as expressed in WCAG 2.0 Success Criterion 1.4.3: http://www.w3.org/TR/UNDERSTANDING-WCAG20/visual-audio-contrast-contrast.html . See also : https://www.w3.org/WAI/perspectives/contrast.html It is particularly important to be mindful of this requirement when a transparency is present because automated measurement is not available to quantatively and correctly judge whether sufficient contrast is being provided, thus requiring application of informed human judgement on a case by case basis. * ACTION TO TAKE This CfC is now open for objection, comment, as well as statements of support via email. Silence will be interpreted as support, though messages of support are certainly welcome. If you object to this proposed action, or have comments concerning this proposal, please respond by replying on list to this message no later than 23:59 (Midnight) Boston Time, Tuesday 2 August.
