Subject: 48-Hour Call for Consensus (CfC): CSS Task Force

Colleagues:

This is a Call for Consensus (CfC) to the Accessible Platform Architectures (APA) Working Group on the question of approving the proposed CSS Task Force and its draft Work Statement:

https://www.w3.org/WAI/APA/task-forces/css-a11y/work-statement#main

* Background Information

The Accessible Platform Architectures (APA Working Group and our predecessor, the Protocols and Formats Working Group (PFWG), have raised significant accessibility concerns across various CSS specs in recent years. It is, therefore, very encouraging to APA see that active work on these issues is expressly called out in the new draft CSS charter, and that CSS has agreed to enter into a joint Task Force with APA and the ARIA-WG to find appropriate resolutions for these issues.

CSS' Agreement to the TF i slogged at:
http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-apa/2016Aug/0085.html

ARIA's support for this TF is logged at:
http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-aria-admin/2016Aug/0018.html

An initial summary of identified issues, together with affected CSS specifications, is available at:

https://github.com/w3c/aria/wiki/CSS-AAM-Potential-Features

* ACTION TO TAKE

This CfC is now open for objection, comment, as well as statements of support via email. Silence will be interpreted as support, though messages of support are certainly welcome.

If you object to this proposed action, or have comments concerning this proposal, please respond by replying on list to this message no later than 23:59 (Midnight) Boston Time, Tuesday 30 August.
