Hi, folks– I work for W3C through MIT (though I'm based in Chapel Hill, NC, USA). I'm one of the W3C staff contacts for this working group, along with the Audio WG and Pointer Events WG, and previously, in the SVG, WebApps, and Touch Events WGs. I'm still active in the SVG WG, which is how I first got involved in W3C. Before that, I worked doing data visualizations for a startup, and before that I ran my own contracting startup building webapps in SVG. I'm also the W3C Developer Relations Lead, and I run the W3Conf developer conference, and help run WebPlatform.org, our vendor-neutral documentation site for web development and design. I got interested in web annotations last year when I saw a demo of Annotator at the Books in Browsers summit, and see a lot of potential in how this can empower the average person on the web. I am leading a project to allow readers of W3C specs to annotate the specs as a primary feedback mechanism. I see value in all parts of the web annotations ecosystem, from the data model to formats to interchange protocols to client-side functionality, since I think we will need all these things for it to succeed; but I am personally particularly interested in the client-side, webapp aspects, including robust anchoring. I look forward to working with you all. Regards- -Doug
