Re: Fwd: Spec Annotation Community Group Proposed

Hey, folks–

I proposed the Spec Annotation Community Group just to lay the
foundation for discussion about spec annotation. Several of us have been
talking about needing this for a while, so we can separate out the
details of supporting the software from the business of this WG, which
is technical specifications and standardization. (I didn't expect the
Spec Annotation CG to be launched so quickly, but several people found
it interesting, so I'm playing catch-up here.)

So, while I'm leaving it up to the chairs to decide what's appropriate
for discussion on this list, I suggest that anyone who's interested in
the topic of annotating WG specifications should join the Spec
Annotation CG and have the discussion there.

In any case, everyone is welcome to join now!

(Backstory: originally, the W3C Audio WG was going to be the first W3C
WG to use this annotation system as a feedback channel, but when we
launched the Web Annotations WG, some of us thought it might be
appropriate to make this available first on the Web Annotation Data
Model spec. There are other WGs interested in using this, so it's a
great chance for us to promote our work and show everyone in W3C how
useful annotations can be! Of course, that means that we'll probably
have more use cases and requirements to deal with...)

-Doug
