The latter is exciting because it may help overcome: 

 

a) the tendency of techies to ignore the requirements for business-quality
documentation, and 

b) the inertia of organizations in failing to specify both the semantics as
well as the structure of their records and then maintaining them in open,
schema-standard compliant, machine-readable format throughout their full
life-cycles.
