RE: Opening the AI Black Box

Key points set forth in a report from the National Association of State CIOs entitled "Ready for Primetime? State Governments Tune in to Artificial Intelligenceā€ include:

* make AI a part of a goals-based, citizen-centric program
* mitigate ethical risks and avoid AI decision making
* augment employees, do not replace them

The Government of the Netherlands also uses algorithmic decision making systems for arriving at court verdicts in cases where the court cases do not really require a magistrate to make a decision.

These systems are however creating a growing resistance, and require a legal redress system where a human reviews AI errors made.

Sounds counterproductive, doesn't it?
