Dear WCAG AG Working Group, I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to seek clarification on a matter concerning the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, specifically regarding the contrast minimum requirement outlined in guideline 1.4.3 (Contrast (Minimum)). My application, in its default state, currently does not meet the contrast ratio requirement of 4.5:1. However, we have integrated the UserWay application on our site, which includes a contrast filter. When this filter is applied, the site's contrast ratio complies with the 4.5:1 benchmark. Given this situation, I am seeking guidance on whether our application can be considered compliant with WCAG 2.2 based on the following: 1. Does compliance require that the default contrast ratio meet the 4.5:1 requirement, or is compliance satisfied if the site achieves the required contrast ratio when using accessibility tools such as UserWay’s contrast filter? 2. As our platform is currently undergoing an accessibility audit process, understanding our compliance status is crucial. Should we address the default contrast ratio issue to meet the guideline, or does the use of the contrast filter suffice for compliance purposes? I would greatly appreciate your guidance on this matter to ensure we adhere to WCAG standards appropriately. Thank you for your time and assistance. Best regards, Bianca Ward
