Hi Wolfgang, We tested this proposal and checked with several screenreader users, you can see the thread: https://github.com/w3c/wcag/issues/1117 The recommendation was not to make this change, for the reasons outlined in this comment: https://github.com/w3c/wcag/issues/1117#issuecomment-1059303545 It is an area that needs improvement though and there is a "Pronunciation Gap Analysis and Use Cases<https://www.w3.org/TR/pronunciation-gap-analysis-and-use-cases/>" doc from the W3C. This might be a good use-case to mention.
