University of Silesia, Katowice Poland Izabela Mrochen a new idea added to WCAG 2.1

Dear Sir/Madam,

I would like to add some comments to the draft WCAG 2.1, which I received
from Scott Hollier a few days ago. I prepared a 20-minute lecture at II
Digital Accessibility Days in Katowice, Poland, on 3rd June, 2016.

Together with my blind student, Paweł Masarczyk, we prepared an innovative
idea of replacing a text alternative with a well prepared source attribute
in particular in mobile applications. It happens that it is not possible to
add a text alternative in the dashboard. We embedded some images but there
was no option to add a text alternative. Paweł, as a blind person using NVDA
and a smartphone, noticed that even without a text alternative, he was able
to understand the idea of images as there were the src attributes.

He asked me to make the src attributes more detailed. I changed them and as
a result we invented a new way of adding alternative description in the src
attribute added with jpg/png.

I hope that are description (attached to this mail) can contribute to the
WCAG 2.1 development and support the AG WG.

We would be grateful for your comments and cooperation. I am writing this
email on behalf of Paweł Masarczyk who is in Germany, Essen, as an Erasmus+
student.

The attached documents:

1. Our presentation as a Power Point Presentation converted into
accessible PDF (2 MB).

2. A short description of our research as html (28 KB) and PDF (696 KB)
format.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,
