Gathering Topics of Interest for Group Exploration

Adaptation and Personalization Community Group,

Hello. I am reaching out, today, to ask about technical topics which you would like for us to explore here in this new Group.

I, for one, am recently interested in exploring knowledge-representation solutions, e.g., knowledge-graph ontologies, markup languages, or JSON schemas, for enhancing: controllable text generation, text rewriting, outline generation, generating documents from outlines, and many other related scenarios. I am thinking about developers providing complex structured graphs, documents, and/or outlines to software components which would subsequently create prompts or agentic workflows for specified AI systems to generate and evaluate adapted and personalized documents for end-users and audiences. In this way, content-authors and developers would be able to create, edit, modify, and vary such graphs, documents, or outlines to receive appropriate documents as a result.

Technical topics which we might additionally or instead explore, upcoming, include, but are not limited to:

  1.
user modeling as pertinent to AI
  2.
how end-users could opt to use HTTP, i.e., enhanced content negotiation, to receive adapted and personalized resources from trusted websites
  3.
how HTML custom elements could enable adaptation and personalization scenarios
  4.
AI-enhanced adaptive explanation

I also recently learned of the following resource: [2]. There is interest, as I understand it, in exploring how AI assistants could enhance Web-browsing experiences with respect to accessibility scenarios. In these regards, I am recently brainstorming about uses of client-side GRDDL, using XSL or additive CSS [3][4] to transform HTML documents into RDF graphs, for AI assistants to then access and interact with using SPARQL queries. Benefits of this theorized approach would include interoperability with "alt-text" and "alt-semantics" for multimedia content including, ambitiously, accessible 3D-graphics [5].

If browser-interoperable AI assistants, document-grounded Q&A and conversations, and related accessibility scenarios are of interest to you, and thus to this Group, please let us know in this thread.

There are, at this onset, many paths that the Group can traverse. I am eager to hear back from you with respect to your interests and ideas. Which technical topics would you like to see the Adaptation and Personalization Community Group explore upcoming?

Also, should we, for now, make use of this mailing list and our GitHub repository issues area [1] for our Group discussions or do you think that we should make additional use of synchronized forms of communication, e.g., Zoom calls?

Thank you.

Best regards,
Adam Sobieski
