Accessible Online Learning CG — May update

Hi all

With apologies for the long silence, and a welcome to those of you who recently joined AccessLearn and wonder whether the group is active, here’s a quick update to confirm we are very much still active!

The group’s work last year focused on developing a set of recommended actions for new content or content edits to help the W3C WAI web site better serve the information needs of people working in online learning, and who want to know more about implications of accessibility. These proposed actions will involve working with W3C WAI to make the recommended changes to the site.

Early this year, we presented these actions to WAI's Education and Outreach Working Group (EOWG), who oversee the WAI web site, and had a good discussion with them about how we can work together to implement the actions. Before we can do that, we have some work to review and revise the recommended actions. Since then, other commitments have taken over, including EO’s focus on relaunching the WAI web site but we are back and ready to move to the next phase.

We (the chairs) are currently reviewing the list of recommended actions from our discussion with EO, and will be sharing this with you all, along with some specific requests for feedback. So, expect further updates and requests for participation in the next week or two—and we look forward to the next phase of work!

Best wishes
Dave and Mary (Accessible Online Learning Community Group co-chairs)
